While Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic did not play for Serbia in the FIBA World Cup this summer, the reigning Finals MVP was still very supportive of Team Serbia during their run. While some may have assumed Jokic was distant from Team Serbia during their run, Serbia's team captain Bogdan Bogdanovic got honest about the Nuggets star, revealing he texts Team Serbia after every game.

"Nikola Jokic texts us after every game," Bogdanovic said when asked about the Nuggets star.

It was a successful run for Serbia, who finished with a silver medal after falling to Germany in the gold medal game. Without Jokic, this was an impressive showing for Serbia, who many people wrote off after it was announced that the Nuggets star would not be playing.

In the same Eurohoops.net piece where Bogdanovic got honest about Jokic's communication with the team, Serbia's captain also spoke on the big win over Canada.

“Canada is an amazing team," Bogdanovic said. "This was a very difficult game, very physical and demanding from the first minute to the last. I’m happy we won and for the other guys. Aleksa Avramovic was watching Shai’s highlights for the last two days and he said, ‘I’m going to steal one ball from him.’ His defense was unbelievable. But also, other guys. Dobric played an unbelievable game both ways, Milutinov was huge for us, gave us all that space. Guduric was struggling one on one, but now he made big threes, Vanja Marinkovic coming off the bench, Stefan Jovic who wasn’t even in the roster at the beginning. We called him like, ‘We need one experienced point guard, can you come, please?’ Borisa, who texted us again this morning, Dusan Ristic, Dejan Davidovac… Everybody put a little effort and it came out as a big team victory."

This win put Serbia in position to finish no worse than second in this tournament, which was impressive.
