During Friday night's game between the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets, star rookie Victor Wembanyama made NBA history, joining Raef LaFrentz as the only two players in NBA history with at least 200 blocks and 100 made threes in a single season.

Wembanyama leads the league in total blocks and blocks per game, and is also able to do things offensively that nobody else with his defensive skillset can do. The season LaFrentz reached these markers was 2002 when he finished the season with 213 blocks and 104 made threes. Wembanyama will almost certainly pass both of those totals before his season ends.

It wasn't Wembanyama's best overall game on Friday night, finishing with just 17 points on 4/12 shooting, but he did swat three shots to add to his league-leading blocks total. The Spurs fell to the defending champion Nuggets in this game, as reigning Finals MVP Nikola Jokic finished with 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Spurs will not be making the playoffs, but they are still a team that is approaching the rest of the season with a sense of purpose. Recognizing that the foundation of a winning team needs to be built somewhere, the Spurs are trying to establish some momentum entering next season, as Wembanyama will have a full year of NBA experience under his belt.
