The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Denver Nuggets on Friday night behind another monster performance from Victor Wembanyama. Finishing with 34 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks, Wembanyama joined Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neale, and David Robinson as just the 5th rookie in NBA history to post this line in a game, per Basketball Reference's StatHead.

When adding in his five made threes in this game, Wembanyama stands alone as the only rookie in NBA history with at least 34 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 5 made threes in a game. Letting out a lot of emotion after the game, Wembanyama clearly wanted this one. While the Spurs will not be heading to the postseason, it's clear that Wembanyama and his teammates care a lot about building positive momentum entering next season.

This was a very bad loss for Denver, as they no longer have sole possession of the first seed. With the OKC Thunder having the tiebreaker over Denver, they currently sit in first place and can clinch the top seed with a win in the season finale. Denver had a one game lead over OKC entering play on Friday, and controlled their own path to the first seed. They will now need an OKC loss in the season finale to regain that spot, which puts Denver in a tough spot.
