Indiana Mad Ants draft Stephan Hicks and David Sloan, begin training camp this week
The NBA G League Draft took place on Saturday, and the Indiana Pacers G League affiliate, the Indiana Mad Ants, had three picks.
All three selections were in the second round — it was the 43rd, 50th, and 51st overall slots. The Mad Ants, led by general manager Chris Taylor, made two of the three selections and skipped the third, a common practice in the G League Draft.
With their first selection, Indiana took forward Stephan Hicks. Hicks has played with the Mad Ants before and has logged 224 games for the franchise, in which he has averages of 12.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He received a 10-day contract with the Pacers in 2019.
At pick 50, the G League club selected guard David Sloan. Sloan was recently overseas professionally, and he wrapped up his collegiate career in 2022. He averaged 12.6 points and 5.0 assists per game as a senior.
Upon completion of the draft, the Mad Ants finalized their training camp roster for the 2023-24 season. The full roster is listed below, and it includes Pacers 2023 second-round draft pick Mojave King:
"I could not be more excited about our roster heading into Mad Ants training camp," Taylor said in a team-issued statement. "We have a strong group made up of veterans with impressive NBA experience who remain committed to continued development with a willingness to share their vast knowledge and younger players who have legitimate international experience on their resume, will experience their first season as a professional, or have had previous success in the G League — all with bright futures ahead of them."
Training camp for the Mad Ants runs from October 30 through November 9. They open the season on November 11.
