After impressive first round performances from Germany and Team USA, Indiana Pacers players Daniel Theis and Tyrese Haliburton both advanced to the second round of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

It only took two games for both squads to punch their ticket to the second round. Germany had an impressive win over Australia, one of the better teams in the tournament, to clinch their berth in round two. Theis had nine points and four rebounds in the victory.

Haliburton, meanwhile, has been coming up big for the United States in seemingly every game and has earned the trust of head coach Steve Kerr. He had six assists in a win over Jordan earlier today.

Now that the groups for the second round of the tournament are set, so is the schedule for the round. Theis and Haliburton both play two games each to finish up this week since the standings from the first round carry over.

Tyrese Haliburton and Team USA

Friday: Team USA vs Montenegro — 4:40 a.m. Eastern Time.

Sunday: Team USA vs Lithuania — 8:40 a.m. Eastern Time.

Both games can be streamed on Courtside1891.

Daniel Theis and Germany

Friday: Germany vs Georgia — 4:30 a.m. Eastern Time

Sunday: Germany vs Slovenia — 7:10 a.m. Eastern Time

Both games can be streamed on Courtside1891.

Because of the way the schedules and standings are aligned, it is possible that both Team USA and Germany officially punch their tickets to the quarterfinals on Friday. They will still be playing with important seeding implications on the line come Sunday no matter what.

Germany's games will be played in Okinawa, Japan while Team USA will play in Manila, Philippines. Former Pacers forward Deividas Sirvydis will be suiting up for the Lithuanian squad, though ex-Pacer Domantas Sabonis is not playing in the competition. Goga Bitadze, who played for Indiana last season and is now with the Orlando Magic, is on the Georgia squad that will battle with Theis on Friday.
