INDIANAPOLIS — Team USA announced their 12-man roster for the Paris Olympics coming this summer, and Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton is among the group.

Haliburton, who played for the Senior Men's National Team last fall in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, hoped that he would be invited to play in Paris later this year. "My goal is to play for USA until the wheels fall off. If I get that call to go, I'll be there," the Pacers point guard said at NBA All-Star weekend.

Grant Hill, the managing director of Team USA, came to Indianapolis to invite Haliburton to be on the squad. He visited other NBA markets to invite the other 11 players in person, too. Beyond Haliburton, the roster is made up of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Jrue Holiday, and Kawhi Leonard.

"[Means] the world to me," Haliburton said of being named to the roster earlier this week. He remembers growing up watching USA basketball and wearing a USA basketball jersey on the Fourth of July. "It's something I've always wanted to do... to get that opportunity to go back this year, play for something bigger, it would mean the world to me."

Haliburton shared that he owned Team USA uniforms for LeBron James, Steph Curry, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant growing up. It's meaningful for him to not only represent the United States, but specifically his hometown of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

"It [is] a great accomplishment, and it would be a great feather in the cap of USA Basketball," Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said of Haliburton being a part of the Olympic team. The Olympics, which will be played in and around Paris, France, begins on July 26, and Team USA will have exhibitions prior to that date this summer.

Haliburton averaged 8.6 points and 5.6 assists per game during the World Cup last year and was a key part of the squad that finished in fourth place. The group helped the United States qualify for the Olympics, and Haliburton will hope to help his country win a gold medal at the games.
