Report: Former Indiana Pacers forward Terry Taylor to sign with Chicago Bulls
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, former Indiana Pacers forward Terry Taylor is signing a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls.
Wojnarowski broke the news on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. He added that the Bulls are waiving forward Malcolm Hill to open up the two-way roster spot needed to add Taylor.
Taylor spent the first season-and-a-half of his career with the Pacers. He appeared in 59 games for the franchise, averaging 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Despite being just six-foot-five, Taylor is one of the best offensive rebounders in the NBA.
The 23-year old forward worked his way up through the Pacers organization. He started out on a training camp deal, then thrived in the G League and earned a two-way contract. After a successful two-way stint, Taylor signed a two-year contract with the Pacers in April of 2022. He averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as a rookie.
This season, Taylor had a strong training camp but didn't receive as many minutes in a crowded Pacers frontcourt. He posted 2.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 26 appearances, include a solid stint in the rotation just a few weeks ago in late January.
"Terry Taylor, you talk about basketball resourcefulness, this guy went from undrafted to a great run with us last year," Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said last week just after the Pacers waived Taylor to facilitate a trade. "He helped us some this year and I think he’s a professional player in this league."
Indiana needed roster spots to bring in George Hill and Jordan Nwora, and Taylor was a casualty of those transactions. He, along with Goga Bitadze, were waived, but both have already found new NBA homes.
Taylor started nine games for Indiana across two seasons. He is uniquely talented and has a chance to help the Bulls down the stretch of the ongoing season.
