Tyrese Haliburton named a finalist for November 2023 Eastern Conference Player of the Month
Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton was a finalist for the first Eastern Conference Player of the Month award of the 2023-24 NBA season.
Haliburton was nominated after being in the mix for Eastern Conference Player of the Week in five of the first six weeks of the season. He was a finalist almost every week but never took home the title.
The first Player of the Month award of the season honors the player in each conference who had the best performances during October and November. Because the October portion of the season is so short, the months are combined for award purposes.
Ultimately, Jayson Tatum took home the hardware in the East. He averaged 27.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game during the month while the Celtics went 14-4. Nikola Jokic took home the trophy in the West.
Haliburton put up per game numbers of 27.0 points, 11.8 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game during that stretch. He was phenomenal and currently sits in sixth on the NBA's MVP ladder. Tatum is in seventh.
Indiana went 9-8 during the October and November periods, stumbling in some winnable games that had Haliburton frustrated. Those results may have been the difference in Haliburton not taking home the honor.
His team is 2-0 in December so far, though, and Haliburton just had a statement game against the Boston Celtics. He's off to a strong start for the ongoing month.
His Pacers are in the In-Season Tournament Semifinals and will take on the Milwaukee Bucks in their next game on Thursday night.
