Tyrese Haliburton remains on top of Eastern Conference guard fan voting for 2024 NBA All-Star Game
The NBA announced the second grouping of results for fan voting ahead of the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, and Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton still leads all Eastern Conference guards in total votes.
Haliburton has 2,192,810 votes so far, 812,015 more than he had after the first release. The Pacers star has nearly 750k more tallies than Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, who is second in fan votes among Eastern Conference guards. Haliburton's gap over the field has widened.
Those two, as well as Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell, are the only backcourt players in the East with more than one million votes. The Pacers star is at more than double that one million number, an encouraging sign ahead of next month's All-Star game in Indianapolis.
"We quite literally can't replace him, his production, and what he does." Pacers reserve point guard T.J. McConnell said of Haliburton this week. Indiana's star is currently injured.
Fan voting began on December 20 and ends in nine days. Haliburton has more votes than any guard in the NBA besides Luka Doncic — he even jumped ahead of Setphen Curry in the last week.
Only Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum have more fan votes in the Eastern Conference. Per the NBA, fans account for 50% of the vote to decide All-Star starters while NBA players and a media panel account for 25% each.
Haliburton is averaging 23.6 points and 12.5 assists per game this season. He has been magnificent all year and has broken many records for Indiana. He is currently leading the best offense in NBA history.
This year's All-Star game will return to East vs West, which was announced at the Pacers home arena earlier this season. Haliburton is currently on track to be a start for the Eastern Conference given his dominant lead in fan voting.
No other Pacers players landed inside the top-10 for All-Star fan voting. One more batch of voting results should be announced prior to the conclusion of the voting process on January 20.
The Pacers next play on Friday night when they hit the road to take on Young and the Hawks.
