When Indiana Pacers play in international action this week
The Indiana Pacers will be well represented this week in international basketball as three of their players will suit up in various competitions.
Two of them will be playing in friendlies as they lead up to FIBA World Cup play later this month, but one of them will begin games as a part of Olympic Qualifying action on Monday. It's a significant week for the blue and gold abroad.
Here is the schedule for each Pacers player playing this week.
Buddy Hield — Bahamas
Buddy Hield and the Bahamas begin Olympic qualifying play this week. They recently participated in two tune-up games against the University of Kansas, and Hield finished with 37 points in the two outings.
The Bahamas must win the 2023 FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament to keep their hopes alive for the Olympics next year. All of the games will take place in Argentina, and they begin on Monday.
For the Bahamas, group play opens up against Cuba on August 14 at Estadio Ciudad in Santiago del Estero. That game is scheduled to tip at 9:10 p.m. Eastern Time.
They then play Argentina on August 16 in the same location, though this game will be at 8:10 p.m. Eastern Time. They were supposed to have a third group stage game against Panama, but Panama will not be playing in the competition.
If the Bahamas finish first or second in their group, they will play in the semifinals on Saturday, August 19. The time of that game is to be determined and depends on the Bahamas finish in Group A. If they play, and win, on Saturday, Hield and co will play in the championship game the following day.
Hield is expected to be joined by Phoenix Suns players Eric Gordon and Deandre Ayton as well as Charlotte Hornets center Kai Jones on the squad.
Tyrese Haliburton — United States
Tyrese Haliburton will continue to play for Team USA this week in the USA Basketball Showcase, a set of scrimmages leading up to the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
So far, Haliburton has a double-digit assist and scoring game for the red, white, and blue.
This week, Team USA has two friendlies. They take on Spain on August 13 in Malaga at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time before traveling to Abu Dhabi. Once there, they will play again on August 18 at 12 p.m. Eastern Time against Greece.
There will only be one more friendly for the United States after that before the Men's Basketball World Cup begins.
Daniel Theis — Germany
Daniel Theis and Germany will also be playing in friendlies prior to the FIBA Basketball World Cup. They played in two games this past week, in which Theis showed off some nice plays and had 27 points.
Theis has just one match this week — a tilt with Greece on August 19. It will be at noon Eastern Time. The following day, Theis and Germany will take on Haliburton and the United States in a friendly, each team's final tune up before the official competition begins.
All of Team USA's exhibitions can be seen on Fox Sports, and Germany vs Greece will be streamed on the same platform. Hield and the Bahamas games will be on Courtside1891.
