Pelicans Injury Update On Forward Naji Marshall
New Orleans, LA - The injury bug continues to hit the New Orleans Pelicans hard ahead of the 2023-2024 regular season. During the second quarter of Saturday's 110-105 loss to Atlanta, Marshall injured himself attempting to rebound the basketball. He immediately went down and had to be helped off the court by a wheelchair.
On Saturday, the team announced Marshall hyperextended his right knee following MRI results. Marshall, one of many injured Pelicans, averaged four points, an assist, and two rebounds during the preseason. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Yet to appear this preseason are Larry Nance Jr., Jose Alvarado, and Trey Murphy III. Nance and Alvarado are expected to be ready for the regular season. Murphy III injured his right meniscus in the offseason, and the timetable for his return is the latter part of November.
Dyson Daniels impresses with a strong preseason performance following solid Summer League play. Daniels and Hawkins will have the opportunity to step up earlier in the season with the amount of injuries New Orleans faces.
Last season, Marshall appeared in 77 games and started 21 of them. He averaged 9.1 points and 3.6 rebounds a game. The Pelicans open their regular season on the road versus the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 25.
