Sportsbook Places Odds For Pelicans To Land Chris Paul

Could the Pelicans return Chris Paul to New Orleans?

New Orleans, LA A report on Wednesday by Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes may signal the beginning of the end for Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns. Since then, national outlets have stated the Phoenix Suns are "exploring all options" regarding the point guard's future. Could a return to New Orleans make sense for Chris Paul?

BETUS.com published its odds on where the future Hall of Fame point guard could land if released by the Suns. The New Orleans Pelicans placed odds at +4000 for Paul to return to the Crescent City. During this offseason, both NBA teams in Los Angeles were expected to be the top contenders to sign CP3 if he became a free agent.

Paul was drafted by New Orleans in 2005 and played his first six years in the NBA for the team, which was called Hornets at that time. CP3 still holds many franchise records, including the most wins in a single season (56) in the team's history. Paul was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers at the beginning of the 2011 season. He recently sat down to discuss the reasons for leaving New Orleans. Paul also expresses the fondness he still has for the city.

Paul is currently in the third year of his four-year contract worth $120 million, with the third year having a partial guarantee. On June 28th, $30.8 million will be fully guaranteed, with the remaining $15 million becoming effective on that day. Additionally, the last year of Paul's contract is not guaranteed.

Could the Pelicans look to recreate some magic of the past with a 38-year-old Chris Paul? Only time will tell, but if Paul hits the open market, a line of teams will be looking for his services.
