NBA News: Jordan Hawkins Received His National Championship Ring

New Orleans Pelicans guard Jordan Hawkins received his NCAA National Championship ring.

Jordan Hawkins is having a great week! The Pelicans rookie guard recently had his best game in Denver, scoring 31 points in a 134-116 losing effort to the reigning NBA champs. On Tuesday, Swin Cash, former UConn great and Pelicans VP of Operations and Team Development, summoned the team to watch her present Hawkins with his 2023 NCAA National Championship ring.

"Hawks, On behalf of everyone at UConn, the men's basketball team, all the alumni," Cash joyfully said in her UConn t-shirt. "We want to congratulate you for raising another banner in Gampel Pavilion." Hawkins replied to Cash and his teammates, "I need another one, man." The other is for the New Orleans Pelicans to hoist a championship banner at Smoothie King Center one day.

Last season, Hawkins and the UConn Huskies defeated San Diego State, 76-59, to win the 2023 NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship in Houston, Texas. Hawkins had 16 points and 4 rebounds in the victory.

Tonight, New Orleans will clash with Minnesota. However, they will do so without Zion Williamson (personal) and CJ McCollum (partially collapsed lung) in the starting lineup. Hawkins will again get the starting nod from Coach Willie Green. The team has yet to announce who will take Williamson's spot at the power forward position. Herb Jones is listed as questionable with an injured fibula.
