"Recent imaging showed improved bone healing of the fifth metatarsal in Zion Williamson's right foot," the organization released.

In December, Zion suffered a setback and required a bone injection to stimulate bone healing in his foot. Marginal details on his health have been reported since the medical procedure. The current update is positive news for the team and many Zion Williamson fans.

WHEN WILL ZION RETURN?

The club shared, "He will gradually progress to full weight-bearing exercise and basketball activities." And added, "He remains out indefinitely."

The final statement does not clarify whether New Orleans' star player will return to the court this season.

New Orleans is 10th in the Western Conference and trails the Lakers by two games with 21 contests remaining for the season.

PELICANS ON A ROLL

The team's record is 2-0 since the All-Star break with wins against the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. The driving catalyst behind

this surge has to be the outstanding play of guard CJ McCollum. Since the trade with the Blazers, he has averaged 30 points a game with the Pelicans. Should Zion return this

season, a starting lineup featuring McCollum, Ingram, and Williamson could prove quite formidable in the playoffs.

For now, Pelicans fans are happy to receive positive good Zion Williamson news.  Especially after the report from The Advocate's Christian Clark mentioning Zion may require another surgery on his broken right foot.  Williamson, 21, is rehabbing his foot in Portland, Oregon.

The Pelicans No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA draft is also the franchise's most talented player.  Williamson shot 61% and averaged 27 points per game last season for New Orleans.  When healthy, he is a dangerous weapon and tremendous play maker in the paint.
