Pelicans To Play In West Group B For NBA Cup

The New Orleans Pelicans will play in Group B for the newly created NBA In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas on Dec. 7 and 9.

The New Orleans Pelicans will play in Group B for the newly created NBA In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas on Dec. 7 and 9.  The 30 NBA teams will be competing for the first-ever NBA Cup. Group B comprises the New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, and Houston Rockets.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

• According to the NBA, Group Play games will be played on "Tournament Nights," which will take place every Tuesday and Friday from Nov. 3-28 (except for Election Day on Nov. 7). The only NBA games played on Tournament Nights will be Group Play games.
• The West and East divisions will have three teams each. A random draw divided the clubs based on last year's regular season records.
• Within the group, each team plays one another once with four games - two at home and two on the road.
• In November, the contests will occur on Tuesdays and Fridays. The games will count as regular-season games and towards the In-Season Tournament matchups.
• The top team from each group and a wild card from the East and West will participate in the knockout rounds.
• Single-elimination semifinals knockout play will begin on Dec. 7 in Las Vegas.
• The NBA Cup winner will be crowned on Dec. 9.
• The NBA will name the In-Season Tournament MVP and All-Tournament Team.
• A prize pool will be allocated to the players on the teams that participate in the knockout rounds.
