ZION WAS 'STILL IMPRESSIVE'
Zion was still "impressive," Stephen A. Smith didn't hold back bestowing accolades on the young Pelicans star. "He's still Zion Williamson," all 17 field goal attempts came in the paint. He's a man-child. We all know this. He attacks the basket with fervor. He's very powerful."
"He's a game changer." Williamson scored 12 of his 23 points in the 4th quarter. Was it a consistent performance? Not at the moment. Still, the NBA All-Star provided big shots and highlight reel moments for New Orleans. When he wasn't penetrating to score, Zion crashed the basket for seven rebounds and dished three assists.
Last night, Coach Green allowed Williamson to play for 31:43 minutes, the fourth-highest on the team. Surprisingly, he didn't record a block or a steal. But don't be too concerned. Once he and the team begin to steady their offseason legs, Zion's defense will improve.
The New Orleans Pelicans (1-0) will welcome the New York Knicks (0-1) to Smoothie King Arena on Saturday, Oct. 28. The 7 PM CT tip-off will be the home-season opener for the Pelicans.
