Detroit Pistons Beat The Golden State Warriors 128-114

The Pistons Snap Their Five-Game Losing Streak With A Win Against The Warriors

The Pistons are taking on the Golden State Warriors. Like last time, we will recap the game quarter-by-quarter. Here we go!

First Quarter

We have our first timeout of the game with the Pistons trailing 16-11 with 6:55 left to go in the game. So far, the Pistons have had a hard time containing Jordan Poole. He’s become quicker over the years and the Pistons are running around to contain him. But if the Pistons want to win the game, they are going to need their star, Cade Cunningham. One concern for him is foul trouble, and he just picked up a foul early in the game, so he needs to be careful moving forward.

Isaiah Stewart has also been active. The Pistons are giving him a lot of opportunities to finish around the basket. I am waiting for that three-point shot to be consistent though. He missed one just now and then hesitated to take another one again.

It is the end of the first quarter and the Pistons trail 37-29. While the defense has struggled, a trend similar to the Atlanta game, the Pistons are shooting themselves in the foot with their seven turnovers. Whether it is Jaden Ivey throwing too high of a lob to Hamidou Diallo on the fastbreak, or Diallo throwing a way too high pass to Cory Joseph, the Pistons have gifted the Warriors with their turnovers.

Second Quarter

Golden State takes a timeout leading 41-37 with 7:35 left to play. The Pistons are beginning to hit their three-point shots. First, it was Saddiq Bey from the corner. Then, Livers from the left wing. One theme of this quarter so far is the offensive rebounding from Golden State. The extended possessions for the Warriors are hurting Detroit.

Cade Cunningham doing Cade things. A tough shot over Draymond, and then a jumper at the elbow, which has become his favorite spot. One other thing to note is that the Pistons are shooting 14/15 from the free-throw line. This team has come a long way from that dreadful New York performance in their free-throw shooting.

At the half, the Pistons lead 63-55. Isaiah Stewart also hit a three-pointer! Also in the news, Steph Curry is good. The Pistons turned it around in the second quarter with their defense. They were able to force turnovers and missed shots from Golden State, which allowed their offense to flourish.

Third Quarter

I did not expect this. The Pistons are up 74-57. They started the third quarter on a 9-0 run and have all the momentum right now. Saddiq Bey has been impressive so far. He is finishing at the rim and has 17 points. You almost forget the fact that he was mainly a three-point shooter during his rookie year.

2:28 left in the third quarter, and the Pistons are up 93-85, weathering the storm that is Jordan Poole. He has made six three-pointers in the quarter and brought Detroit back into the game.

At the end of three quarters, the Pistons are up 100-91. The bench is maintaining the league. Diallo is active on the defensive end and got a steal which resulted in a Killian Hayes slam!

Fourth Quarter

Golden State tried to make it a game, but the Pistons kept on fighting back. Late in the game, Saddiq Bey hit two huge three-pointers to effectively put the the game. The Pistons also have four players now with 20+ points. The first time since 2020 that has occurred.

Final: Pistons 128, Warriors, 114
