Three Players To Represent Pistons During All-Star Weekend

It might not be the big game, but three Pistons will be involved in the All-Star Weekend festivities.

Detroit Pistons forward Saddiq Bey, guard Cade Cunningham and center Isaiah Stewart have been selected to play in the NBA Clorox Rising Stars on Friday, Feb. 18 during 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio, the league announced tonight.

The pool of 28 players for Clorox Rising Stars consists of 12 first-year NBA players, 12 second-year NBA players and four players from NBA G League Ignite. The competition will consist of four teams of seven players in a “race to 75” points in honor of the NBA’s landmark 75th Anniversary Season, with two semifinal games up to a target score of 50 and a final game played to a target score of 25.

Bey, 6-8, 215, has averaged 15.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.9 steals in a team-high 33.5 minutes over 49 games (all starts) this season. Bey leads the Pistons with 119 3-pointers made on the year and currently sits fifth all-time with 294 triples in 119 career games. He ranks fourth among all sophomores in total points (763) and total rebounds (281), third in 3-pointers made (119) and first in total minutes (1,643) in 2021-22.

Cunningham, 6-6, 220, has posted clips of 16.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, a team-high 5.4 assists and a team-high 1.3 steals in 32.3 minutes through 40 games (all starts). Cunningham is the only rookie averaging at least 16 points, five rebounds and five assists per game in 2021-22, and is on pace to become the 13th rookie in NBA history with such averages. He ranks first among all rookies in scoring average (16.1) and 3-pointers made per game (2.1), and is second in assists (5.4), steals (1.3) and free-throw percentage (.860). Cunningham became the only rookie in Pistons history to record multiple triple-doubles in a season and is the youngest player in team history to tally a triple-double.

Stewart, 6-9, 250, has played in 41 games (all starts) in 2021-22, compiling averages of 7.9 points, a team-high 7.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and a team-high 1.1 blocks in 25.3 minutes. He ranks first among all Pistons in total rebounds (324), blocks (47) and field goal percentage (.526) on the year and also leads all sophomores in rebounds and blocks. Stewart has recorded the most games with 10-plus rebounds (12) and two-plus blocks (12) among all second-year players in 2021-22.

The trio marks the first time Detroit has had three Rising Stars in the same season. The Pistons have now had 14 different players make an appearance in the Rising Stars Challenge.
