The Pistons' Season Is Over; Time To Look Ahead
After dropping the season finale against the Sixers 118-106, the Pistons can now officially turn their attention towards the NBA Draft and next year's campaign.
With a final record of 23-59, the Pistons are officially in the bottom three of the NBA record wise thus giving them as good a chance as any team to get the No. 1 overall pick at 14%.
So now Pistons fans are hoping for a top-four pick. That would ensure that Detroit can snag one of Gonzaga's Chet Holmgren, Duke's Paolo Banchero, Auburn's Jabari Smith or Purdue's Jaden Ivey. That quartet is pretty widely accepted as the top tier in this year's draft and all four pair pretty nicely with a guy like Cade Cunningham. The great thing about Cunningham, is that any player pairs well with him because of his ability to create and also because he can score at an extremely high, efficient clip.
Now it's a waiting game. We know every team's odds but the actual order won't be decided until the 2022 NBA draft lottery May 17 in Chicago. If the Pistons land anywhere in the top four, Cunningham, the coaches in Detroit and Pistons fans everywhere should be close to ecstatic.
