The Pistons picked a bad time to have a terrible game. In Orlando on Friday night, Detroit lost, and lost badly, to the only team in the NBA with a worse record than them. Orlando defeated Detroit 119-103 and it wasn't even that close.

After perhaps his best game as a pro, Cade Cunningham followed it up with maybe his worst game as a pro. In 30 minutes of action, Detroit's No. 1 overall pick went just 3-of-17 from the floor, including 0-for-5 from distance, en route to an 8-point performance. Detroit's starters totaled just 47 points in the contest.

Reserve big man Trey Lyles led the way for Detroit with 18 points off the bench, which included two long balls and Saddiq Bey scored 17. Cory Joseph scored 10 joining Bey as the only starters in double digits. As bad as Cunningham was in terms of scoring, two other starters scored less than he did as both Hamidou Diallo and Isaiah Stewart chipped in just six points apiece. That's an unacceptable performance from a starting unit in the NBA.

The Pistons only turned the ball over 10 times, which was five less than Orlando, but shot just 37% from the field. Orlando, on the other hand, knocked down 50% of its shots. That's really where the difference was.

The Pistons are now 11-37 as the Magic improve to 10-40. These are going to be two of the teams battling it out for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. On the hardwood tonight, Orlando won the battle.
