Pistons beat the Magic 113-109
This game had everything you could ask for, seriously.
The Pistons started the game ice-cold, going 0-8 from in the first quarter and saw Orlando take a fifteen point lead. But the Pistons clawed back to take the lead, and fought off rallies by the Magic to hold on in this game. Here are three quick takeaways from the game!
The Rookies Came To Play
Both Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren had remarkable debuts with Ivey notching nineteen points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals, and Duren becoming the youngest Piston to attain a double-double with fourteen points and eleven rebounds. Duren made his presence known early with a ferocious poster dunk to cut the Pistons deficit to seven in the second quarter. He also had some nice blocks, three of them, which allowed the Pistons to get into transition. Ivey showed that he may be the most athletic player on the floor with how he would blow-by defenders to finish. Even on attempts that he missed, it was clear that Ivey can get by anyone with ease. We even saw the three point shot by him as he knocked down two of them in the game.Bojan
Bogdanovic Saved The Team
Bogdanovic was big-time for the Pistons, knocking down six threes in his debut. When the Pistons needed him the most, Bogdanovic was instant-offense. He also takes off pressure from other playmakers such as Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey with his ability to put the ball on the floor. Troy Weaver wanted to improve the three-point shooting from last year, and he may have just solved it with Bogdanovic.
Cade Cunningham’s Patience
I think we saw the form of Cade Cunningham that he was trying to show in the preseason. Sure, he may not be as aggressive as you would like, but if the team is winning, then he is winning. It could have been easy for him to try to force a bucket late in the fourth quarter, but instead he decided to trust his teammate Isaiah Stewart, who rewarded him by knocking down a clutch three-point shot. It will be exciting to see his playstyle in the future, and how it may change when his teammates need him to be the primary scoring option.
