At the 2023 trade deadline, the Detroit Pistons decided to take a gamble and acquire a former top pick in James Wiseman. Things had not worked out for him with the Golden State Warriors, so Detroit decided to step in and take a flier on his potential.

Since coming to the Pistons, Wiseman has shown some flashes. However, he's recently put together a string of impressive outings. Over his last four games, the young center is averaging double-digit points off the bench while shooting an impressive 76% from the field.

On Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks, Wiseman had one of his best outings in a Pistons' uniform. In 30 minutes off the bench, he posted a stat line of 17 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Wiseman put up these numbers while also going 8-for-10 shooting-wise.

After the game, Pistons forward Simone Fontecchio was asked about Wiseman's play as of late. He feels Wiseman is playing with much more confidence on the floor.

"It’s all about confidence for him. We all know he’s got potential and unbelievable talent. He just has to keep working the way he has," Fontecchio said postgame. "Every single day I’ve seen him, he’s been in the gym working hard."

Since coming over to the Pistons last year, Wiseman has played in a total of 68 games. In that span, he is averaging 8.5 PPG and 5.7 RPG.

Looking ahead, Wiseman has a lot of incentive to end this season on a high note. Come the offseason, he will enter restricted free agency. If he's able to continue turning heads with his play, it could drastically impact the type of market that forms for him.
