Pistons Land French Prospect in Latest NBA Mock Draft
Sitting with one of the worst records in the NBA, the Detroit Pistons will likely be selecting at the top of the 2024 NBA draft. Recent mock drafts have them selecting an exciting young international prospect.
The last few iterations of mock drafts had the Pistons selecting first, but that isn't the case in Bleacher Report's latest installment. They've dropped to No. 2, selecting Zaccharie Risacher out of France.
Risacher is one of the younger prospects in this draft, but already has an NBA-ready frame. He currently stands at 6-foot-8 and weighs 204 pounds.
At the moment, Risacher is playing for JL Bourg-en-Bresse overseas. In the EuroCup earlier this year, he averaged 13.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 1.1 APG. He also shot the ball extremely well from deep, converting 56.1% of his attempts.
Outside shooting ability is one of the main things that has stood out from Risacher. Throughout his overseas career, he is shooting just under 43% from beyond the arc. His current NBA player comp is Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr.
Looking at their current roster makeup, perimeter shooting is an area of improvement for the Pistons. They are 27th in three-point attempts per game this season, and are 22nd in percentage (35.8%).
If drafted, Risacher could end up being Jalen Duren's frontcourt partner of the future. He'd still provide size at the forward position, but is also someone who could stretch opposing defenses. More spacing would allow Cade Cunningham to operate in the mid-range more, along with create driving lanes for Jaden Ivey and Ausar Thompson.
