The Detroit Pistons will be without the former No. 1 overall pick from 2021 for quite some time as he recovers from a reported stress fracture in his left shin. How long Cunningham is out for is yet to be determined as he has been presented with two options for treatment. He can either undergo surgery, or wait for his body to heal the fracture on its own. Surgery would fix the problem in the long term for certain but mean a significant amount of time on the sidelines. Waiting on his body could take time and risk returning when not fully healed.

It's a season that has gone from bad to worse for Dwane Casey to lose his best player. The final results of the games seem to be of less importance as they will prioritize the development of their youngsters more than anything for the remaining 63 games. Perhaps they will enter into the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes? Regardless, it should make for some interesting storylines as Jaden Ivey has been given the keys of the backcourt until his running mate returns.

The injury to the Pistons star was the main topic of the latest episode of the All Pistons Podcast. Neal Sinha, Aedan Mulcrone, and Vinayak Swaroop discuss what the news means for the Pistons going forward.
