Granger rips Noah's dirty game

Though the Pacers had been considered the series' thugs, Danny Granger saw things quite differently. Granger had to be restrained from going after Bulls center Joakim Noah as the teams exchanged handshakes on the court at the end of the Bulls' series-ending 116-89 win. Granger accused Noah of playing dirty throughout the game, taking cheap shots at Pacers, including forward Josh McRoberts, who was ejected in the third quarter. Granger was in the hallway outside the locker room using expletives to describe Noah's play. "Everybody saw what Josh did and he got ejected," Granger said. "Nobody caught what happened first. It's always the second man. (Noah) was playing dirty the whole game. My teammates got caught with it and nothing happened." (Indianapolis Star)Comment

Bowers wants to play for Cleveland

Da'Quan Bowers is hoping teams disregard speculation that his knee isn't healthy -- particularly the Browns. Bowers said teams that buy into the rumors will be sorry. "Whoever drafts me, I'll do my very best to give them what they want," said Bowers. "For the teams that don't draft me, they'll have to wonder why when I play against them." Bowers said his visit to Cleveland was one of his favorites and that he got along great with the new coaches. "I feel like I can really make an impact there as a rookie," he said. "I think I'd fit well in that defense and be able to help them out. I feel like there's something special going on in with the Browns and I'd like to be a part of it." (The Plain Dealer)Comment

No timetable for Mauer's return

In Minnesota, where another game was lost to weather, when it rains, it pours. Joe Mauer is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Thursday but won't, Twins general manager Bill Smith said Tuesday. The catcher is still suffering from leg weakness and can't play. Mauer, 28, hasn't played since April 12 and has been limited to action in nine of the Twins' 21 games. He missed a week because of a strong viral infection and now is working on getting his legs under him. "He's making progress with his legs," Smith said, "and doing a lot of work with (assistant trainer) Tony Leo. We'll continue to monitor that. But he won't come off (the DL) Thursday. He's not ready yet." Smith had no timetable on when Mauer might be available (Pioneer Press)Comment
