Raptors Among Teams Eyeing No. 2 Pick in NBA Draft, per Report
The Toronto Raptors are reportedly looking to take a huge jump up the NBA Draft.
Both Toronto and the New Orleans Pelicans are said to be “genuinely interested” in acquiring the No. 2 pick from the Charlotte Hornets ahead of Thursday’s draft, according to Matt Moore of the Action Network. That list is, however, expected to grow with more teams looking to make moves up the draft.
It's unclear if the Hornets are willing to move the pick as they continue to deliberate between Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller at No. 2. Whoever they pass on is expected to be selected No. 3, where the Portland Trail Blazers currently sit.
New Orleans is believed to be in strong purist of Henderson, the 19-year-old guard out of the G League Ignite. Zion Williamson may be on the table in those discussions, according to Marc Stein. Brandon Ingram is considered untouchable in trade talks for the pick.
The Raptors have a need in the backcourt this summer and Henderson would mesh easily alongside Barnes and Toronto’s young core. His lack of three-point shooting is a bit of a concern, but he’s a talented ballhandler with a refined mid-range game who can put pressure on the rim with his rare athletic ability.
Should Charlotte opt to stay put at No. 2, Portland is reportedly open to moving the No. 3 pick as the Trail Blazers try to build a championship-contending roster around Damian Lillard.
