Report: Sergio Scariolo Conducted 2nd Round of Interviews with Raptors via Skype

Sergio Scariolo has reportedly progressed through a second round of interviews with the Toronto Raptors and is a finalist to take over the team’s vacant head coaching job.
The 62-year-old Italian spoke with the Raptors via Skype on Monday, according to La Repubblica Bologna, an Italian Newspaper in Bologna where Scariolo currently coaches.
The Raptors had been planning to bring Scariolo to Toronto for another round of interviews but his Virtus Bologna team advanced to the Italian league final and Scariolo has been unable to interview in Toronto, per Marc Stein. The final is scheduled to start Friday and will run through at least June 16.
Toronto is expected to make a final decision within a week’s time.
Scariolo is believed to be one of three or four finalists still in contention for the lone remaining vacant head coaching job in the NBA. Steve Nash and Jordi Fernandez both received initial interviews but have not been invited back for second interviews, according to the Toronto Star’s Doug Smith.
Kenny Atkinson of the Golden State Warriors reportedly interviewed for the job as well, per Stein. He is thought to be among the finalists in the running for the job.
Darko Rajakovic of the Memphis Grizzlies is also believed to be in contention.
The Raptors have said they’d like to have a coach in place ahead of the June 22 NBA Draft.
