Fred VanVleet Set to Return for Raptors vs. Bulls
Fred VanVleet is off the injury report for the Toronto Raptors and ready to go Tuesday night as the Chicago Bulls come to town for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff at Scotiabank Arena.
The 29-year-old point guard had missed three straight games for personal reasons as he welcomed his third child home.
VanVleet will now slide back into Toronto's starting guard spot, likely displacing Gary Trent Jr. who will presumably be bumped to the bench. It should be the first time the Raptors have had a fully healthy rotation since acquiring Jakob Poeltl at the trade deadline. Otto Porter Jr. is the only player out with an injury for the Raptors.
Expect Trent, Precious Achiuwa, and Chris Boucher to be the first three off the bench for Toronto. Jeff Dowtin Jr. had seen limited playing time with VanVleet sidelined but he'll likely shift back into a reserve role.
Toronto opens a pivotal three-game stretch starting with Chicago on Tuesday night before a pair of games against the Washington Wizards. There are just one and a half games separating the ninth-seeded Raptors and 11th-seeded Bulls in the East.
