Report: Raptors Already Drawing Interest on Bruce Brown
Maybe the Toronto Raptors have another trade awaiting with the New York Knicks who are reportedly interested in acquiring Bruce Brown ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
Brown has been a player on the Knicks’ radar dating back to this past summer and there’s said to be some internal interest in a trade with Toronto to acquire the 27-year-old wing, according to SNY’s Ian Begley.
Toronto acquired Brown from the Indiana Pacers as part of the Pascal Siakam trade Wednesday night. He’s averaging 12.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and three assists per game this year while shooting 47.5% from the field.
It’s unclear if the Raptors are going to look to keep Brown who has a team option worth $23 million next season. He’s not an ideal fit with Toronto’s timeline moving forward but he’s a valuable wing on a team that is now a little short on wing depth.
Brown joined the Pacers last season following a championship run with the Denver Nuggets in which he played an instrumental role for Denver as the sixth man for the Nuggets.
Toronto will likely take calls from inquiring teams over the next three weeks. However, Brown cannot be traded alongside anyone else from the Raptors in a single trade. He can only be traded as a single player asset through the remainder because he was recently traded to the Raptors.
It’s unclear what the Knicks would be willing to give Toronto in a trade for Brown but New York has a surplus of first-round picks that could potentially interest the Raptors.
