NBA Insider Shares Latest on Raptors Bruce Brown Trade Talks
The Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby trades were the exception, not the rule.
It’s rare that the biggest trades of the season happen so far from the upcoming Feb. 8 trade deadline. Sure, there are some, but the overwhelming majority of mid-season trades happen within the 24 hours ahead of the 3 p.m. trade deadline next month.
That’s how the Toronto Raptors appear to be approaching their next moves. They’re in “no rush” to trade Bruce Brown Jr., ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski wrote on his weekly Threads chat.
Toronto is said to be fielding offers from lots of interested teams, Wojnarowski wrote. The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets have all been teams connected to Brown ahead of the trade deadline.
Brown cannot be traded alongside any other Raptors players due to the NBA’s recent traded player restrictions. Toronto could include draft pick compensation to a Brown trade, though that seems unlikely considering the current state of the organization.
The 27-year-old wing was a key member of the Nuggets’ championship run last season, making him attractive to almost every contending team this season. He signed a two-year deal with the Indiana Pacers this past summer that included a team option for next season. Toronto acquired Brown in the Pascal Siakam trade earlier this month.
Toronto is said to be looking for a first-round pick and a player in return for Brown, per Marc Stein’s SubStack.
Brown is averaging 12 points on 47.8% shooting with 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game this year.
