Raptors Share Lengthy Injury Report vs Heat
The Toronto Raptors may be quite shorthanded Wednesday night when Kyle Lowry and the Miami Heat come to town for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff at Scotiabank Arena.
Both Gary Trent Jr. and Gradey Dick have been listed as questionable to play after missing Monday’s game against the Boston Celtics. Trent is battling a flu-like illness while Dick has a right thumb sprain.
Jakob Poeltl, Christian Koloko, and Otto Porter Jr. all remain out for Toronto. Poeltl’s remains out with a left ankle sprain that will likely keep him sidelined for at least another week. Koloko continues to tend to an ongoing respiratory issue and is out indefinitely. Porter’s status remains somewhat unclear as he continues to deal with a right knee sprain that has kept him sidelined for the entire month.
The Raptors appear to have called up Javon Freeman-Liberty from the Raptors 905. He is not listed on Toronto’s injury report against Miami, but the Raptors have not announced his call up.
Expect Toronto to use Jontay Porter in the starting lineup for the second straight game with Thad Young and Chris Boucher off the bench while Poeltl remains out. Jalen McDaniels and Freeman-Liberty could see playing time off the bench if Trent and Dick are both sidelined again.
Freeman-Liberty has yet to appear in an NBA game in his career. He spent all of last season with the Windy City Bulls, the G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls.
Miami has ruled out rookie first-round pick Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kevin Love, and Dru Smith.
