For all the talk about Toronto Raptors players always being underrated by national media, at least a few NBA players supposedly view Pascal Siakam as the opposite.

A new poll from The Athletic says four of the 54 NBA players surveyed believe Siakam is the league’s most overrated player. He finished tied with Julius Randle for the second-most, trailing Trae Young who received eight votes. Jimmy Butler, Rudy Gobert, and Jaren Jackson Jr. all received three votes while RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Draymond Green, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, and Austin Reeves all received two votes.

No other Raptors player received a single vote.

Siakam made the All-Star team as an injury replacement this past season. He averaged a career-high 24.8 points and 5.8 assists per game while with 7.8 rebounds. His True Shooting percentage, a metric for shooting efficiency that includes three-pointers and free throws, was 1.6% below league average.

An All-NBA spot is not entirely out of the question for Siakam who did play in 71 games for Toronto this season. While he’s not considered among the league’s premier forwards, he could earn a third-team spot due to injuries that plagued some of the league’s best forwards.

Siakam is eligible for a four-year, $192.1 million contract should he fail to make an All-NBA team this season. If he does earn a spot, he can sign a supermax contract worth up to five years, $290.3 million.
