Serge Ibaka’s NBA playing career may be over, but the former Toronto Raptors legend hasn’t stopped making art.

The 34-year-old has released a new song called “What It Do Baby,” a reference to Kawhi Leonard’s famous quote following Toronto's 2019 NBA Championship.

The music video begins with the iconic clip of Ibaka and Leonard in a car together and Leonard saying, “what it do baby.” Ibaka then introduces himself as “Ma Fuzzy,” Ibaka’s nickname and a term he grew up using in Congo.

“This is Serge Ibaka aka Ma Fuzzy,” he says. “100% pure from the motherland, Mr. Avec Classe.”

The song is heavily influenced by Ibaka’s African heritage and primarily not in English.

Ibaka spent parts of four seasons with the Raptors, joining the team midway through the 2017 season in a trade with Orlando. He left Toronto in free agency following the COVID-19-shortened 2019-20 season and played a season and half for the Los Angeles Clippers before falling out of the rotation.

Following a brief season and a half stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, Ibaka opted to join Bayern Munich of the German Basketball Bundesliga for this season. He plays alongside former Raptors Freddie Gillespie and Isaac Bonga.

The latest song isn’t the start of Ibaka’s music career. In 2022, he released an entire album titled “ART.” His top song from the album “Champion” features French rapper Ninho and has been listened to nearly 42 million times on Spotify.

Ibaka has over 406 thousand monthly listens on Spotify.
