Javon Freeman-Liberty is getting called up.

The Toronto Raptors will reportedly convert his two-way contract into a new standard multi-year deal, per Shams Charania. That will allow Freeman-Liberty to join the big club in Toronto after spending most of the season in the G League with the Raptors 905.

"Javon is this quiet kid who came in and made a lot of noise. … We are really (are) proud of everything he accomplished this year," Raptors coach Darko Rajaković told reporters Friday night.

Freeman-Liberty has been among the best prospects in the G League all season, averaging 23.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.

The 24-year-old initially signed a two-way with Toronto during Summer League following a stellar showing with the Chicago Bulls.

Freeman-Liberty, however, has yet to find an ideal role for himself as he's a bit of a combo guard without a true position. At 6-foot-3, he's a little undersized to be a wing and his inconsistent shooting makes him a less-than-ideal fit off the ball. While he's a skilled finisher, his playmaking chops and passing prowess aren't quite developed enough to make him a traditional point guard.

Toronto will likely have Freeman-Liberty up for the stretch run this season with a non-guaranteed deal heading into next season. He'll likely join the team in training camp with his future up-in-the-air heading into next season.

Freeman-Liberty spent two seasons at Valparaiso before transferring to DePaul. He went undrafted in 2022 before joining the Chicago Bulls where he spent last season in the G League.

The signing fills Toronto's final roster spot currently available but DJ Carton's 10-day contract will expire Friday night, creating an additional roster spot for the Raptors to use if they choose to.
