Raptors Add Mouhamadou Gueye & Kevin Obanor as Training Camp Invitees
Mouhamadou Gueye appears to have turned some heads in the Toronto Raptors front office thanks to a strong showing at Summer League last month.
The 25-year-old forward has joined the team as a training camp invitee, the Raptors announced Tuesday. He joins Kevin Obaner on an Exhibit 10 training camp contract and Garrett Temple on a minimum contract whose contract all became official.
The 6-foot-9 Gueye averaged 7.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in five contests for Toronto’s Summer League team. He spent last season with the Texas Legends in the G League where he averaged 8.6 points with 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game across 29 games played.
Gueye was one of the few bright spots for Toronto’s Summer League team and he’ll have a chance to continue to prove himself when training camp rolls around this fall. Expect the Raptors to eventually cut him while maintaining his G League rights for next season.
With the trio signed, Toronto’s roster now sits full with 21 players for training camp. That number will have to be whittled down to just 15 on standard contracts.
Javon Freeman-Liberty, Markquis Nowell, and Ron Harper Jr. are on two-way deals and will likely spend much of the season with the Raptors 905 alongside Gueye and Obaner.
Jeff Dowtin Jr. is the only player on a partially guaranteed deal. His deal is not guaranteed until after training camp and he’ll be fighting to beat out Thad Young and Otto Porter Jr. for a roster spot.
