Toronto Raptors guard Terence Davis II was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly slapping his girlfriend at a New York hostel, according to the NYPD.

The assault allegedly occurred at 8:30 p.m. outside the Beekman Hotel when Davis and his girlfriend got into a verbal dispute. Davis allegedly slapped the woman and then grabbed and broke her phone, the police said in a statement.

The story was first reported by the New York Post and ABC 7 New York.

The Raptors have yet to release a public statement but are reportedly looking into the matter, according to multiple reports.

The 23-year-old Davis is coming off his rookie season with the Raptors. He averaged 7.5 points on 45.6% shooting and was named to the NBA's All-Rookie second team.

Davis was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Raptors following one impressive showing at the Los Angeles Summer League with the Denver Nuggets.

He is set to make $1.5 million next season, though the contract is not guaranteed.
