Eugene Omoruyi is coming home.

The Canadian forward out of Ontario's Orangeville Prep Basketball Academy has joined the Raptors 905 following the departure of Branden Carlson earlier this month. Omoruyi was claimed off waivers and will join to the 905 for the season.

The 27-year-old appeared in 43 games for the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while spending part of the year with the Capital City Go-Go, Washington's G League affiliate. With the Go-Go, he averaged 18.4 points on 50.9% shooting with 6.8 rebounds per game.

Omoruyi was born in Benin City, Nigeria, but grew up in Ontario. He spent five years in college at Rutgers and Oregon before going undrafted in 2021. He averaged 7.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in 2022-23 while appearing in 40 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons, respectively.

The 6-foot-6 forward signed a training camp deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves but was waived prior to the start of the season.

The 905 are currently playing without Quincy Guerrier who has joined the Canadian senior men's national team ahead of the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers. Guerrier had appeared in four games for the 905 and was averaging 13.8 points on 56.1% shooting with 8.8 rebounds per game.

The loss of Carlson to the Thunder earlier this month has left the 905 thin in frontcourt depth where Omoruyi should offer some support as a forward who can fill in as a small-ball center. Once Toronto's big club gets back to full strength, Jonathan Mogbo should see playing time with the 905 later this season.
