RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley are going to need a little bit longer.

Both players did return to practice for the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday but have since been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks, the team announced. They'll both need some more practice opporunities to ramp up ahead of a return at some point in the not-too-distant future.

“We're gonna go day by day with them just to see how they're gonna react to workloads, to play groups, and all of that,” Raptors coach Darko Rajaković said.

Barrett has missed seven straight games following the death of his younger brother Nathan earlier this month.

Quickley has missed for games as he too tends to a family matter.

Scottie Barnes and Jakob Poeltl did participate in some light drill work Tuesday, though neither player has been cleared for contact. Both players had surgeries on their left hands and are unlikely to return this season.

“They are working out together and they are really doing like right-hand passing and skill work that they can do with (the) right hand,” Rajaković said.

The Raptors have ruled out Barnes, Poeltl, Quickley, Barrett, Chris Boucher, DJ Carton, and Jontay Porter for their upcoming game against the New York Knicks.

Porter has been away from the team since the league began an investigation into unusual sports betting activity connected to the 24-year-old backup center. ESPN's report of the investigation first surfaced Monday night and it's unlikely Porter will return to the organization this season.
