Boban Marjanovic Signs New Deal With Rockets
Forget Dillon Brooks, Fred VanVleet, or Jeff Green. This is the free agency move we were all waiting for.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the giant Boban Marjanovic will return to the Houston Rockets to begin his ninth NBA season.
Bobi is known for many things across the NBA. His admirable and loyal friendship with 76ers forward Tobias Harris, being able to fit an unintelligible amount of goldfish in his hand and most of all his kindness across the league. The Rockets now bring back a player that will, in our opinion, undoubtably help the locker room that this young Rockets team is expected to have.
The big man stands at a massive 7-3 inches tall, weighing in at an NBA-high 290 pounds (tied with Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic). His mere presence on an NBA court is enough to alter the approach of an offense due to his vast 7-10 (94-inch) wingspan. While never averaging over nine points per game in his career, the intangibles speak for themselves in the case of the Serbian celebrity.
He only appeared in 31 contests for the team last season, finishing the year off averaging 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 5.5 minutes per game. He scored 10 points and six rebounds in his team's final outing of the season against the Washington Wizards.
Bobi now returns to the team as the third-string center, and will be competing with newly-signed Australian big man Jock Landale for backup center minutes behind Turkish star Alperen Sengun.
The move looks to be an additional effort to bring veteran leadership to the locker room. The Rockets, who have made signings reflecting that, have hopes of improving off a 22-60 record last season.
