Former Rockets Guard James Harden Lifts 76ers To Game 4 Win vs. Celtics
HOUSTON — Former Houston Rockets guard James Harden had another masterful performance during the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals against the Boston Celtics.
Sunday afternoon, Harden put on a show inside Wells Fargo Center with a game-high 42 points on 16-for-23 shooting, 6-for-9 from deep, to lift the Philadelphia 76ers to a 116-115 Game 4 victory over the Celtics.
He hit a go-ahead 3-point field goal in the final seconds to help the 76ers even the playoff series at 2-2. In addition to his 42 points, Harden added nine assists and eight rebounds in the win.
Harden's performance marked the second time he scored 40 or more points against the Celtics. He tied his playoff career-high of 45 points to help the 76ers take a Game 1 victory Monday night.
Harden played nine seasons for the Rockets, where he became one of the league's most prolific scorers. He eclipsed 40 points or more 101 times during his career in Houston.
But since the Rockets traded Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in January 2021, the one-time league MVP winner has reached 40 or more points five times since his departure. His Game 4 play against the Celtics marked his second 40-plus game with the 76ers.
Harden is currently averaging 28.8 points, 7.5 assists and 6.3 rebounds through the first four games against the Celtics.
