With constant comparisons to two-time league MVP Nikola Jokic, it was only a matter of time before Houston Rockets' big man Alperen Sengun started to see his name among the NBA's best.

The Ringer completed their list of the top 125 players from the 2022-23 campaign. Sengun not only made the list. But the second-year prospect from Turkey cracked the top 100 by coming in at No. 98.

"Sengun always seems to have this wry grin on his face, almost as if he knows something that you don’t; there’s a quiet confidence that will grow to a roar if you take him lightly. That confidence is rooted in an old-school approach.

"So much of Sengun’s craftiness is propped up by how aggressive and how willing to embrace physicality he is. He will gladly administer contact and chisel out space, then launch into his repertoire of up fakes, spins, reverse pivots, and ambidextrous and angular scoops or hooks." — per The Ringer.

Sengun had several memorable games that illustrated the potential of increasing his ranking next season.

One of which took place on April 4, where Sengun led the Rockets to a 124-103 home victory over the Denver Nuggets. He helped the Rockets limit Jokic to a subpar 14-point performance while recording 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in the win.

Despite a slow start to the season, Sengun showcased All-Star potential in his second year. He averaged 14.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists across 75 games for the 22-60 Rockets.
