Rockets' Brooks Has Playoff Bonus In Contract
Houston Rockets' new addition Dillon Brooks has a big pay day coming his way if the Rockets make the playoffs this year.
Brooks signed with Houston this offseason as a part of a sign-and-trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. His contract with the Rockets is a four-year, $86 million deal.
It has been reported that the deal could be worth up to $90 million with incentives. Now, it is believed that those incentives are for making the playoffs, at least the $1 million incentive in his first season.
Houston has not made the playoffs since the 2019-20 season, after which star James Harden began to force his way off of the team. Before that, the Rockets had made the playoffs in each of the last eight seasons since 2012-13.
The 27-year old forward averaged 14.5 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game in six seasons with Memphis. The Grizzlies made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons that he was there.
Brooks has been in the news recently after having a great performance at the 2023 FIBA World Cup for Team Canada. He won Best Defensive Player in the entire tournament on a Bronze medal run.
He even had 39 points, five assists and two rebounds against Team USA in the Bronze medal game that impressed many.
Houston and Brooks will be back in action when the NBA preseason begins, starting with a matchup against the Indiana Pacers at home on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m.
