Houston Rockets Drop Fourth Consecutive Road Game in Loss to Los Angeles Lakers

The Houston Rockets sustained another heartbreaking defeat in Los Angeles, but this time, against the Lakers.

The Houston Rockets dropped their second straight game following a 105-104 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday night inside the Crypto.com Arena. Dillon Brooks led the way for the Rockets with 24 points on a career-best six-made 3-pointers.

Alperen Şengün's layup attempt tied the game at 104 with four seconds left in the fourth quarter. On the Lakers' next offensive possession, Dillon Brooks fouled LeBron James, who split his two free throw attempts. 

With 1.2 seconds left in the final period, Brooks received a pass from Şengün but missed the potential game-winning basket. James finished with a game-high 37 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the win. Şengün added 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the loss.

Brooks and Şengün were one of Houston's five players who scored in double figures. Fred VanVleet had a great all-around performance of 15 points and 16 assists. Jabari Smith Jr. added 14 points and five rebounds in the loss.

Anthony Davis set an early tone for the Lakers. He scored 10 of his 27 points in the first quarter, to go along with 10 rebounds.

Rockets still winless on the road:

By falling to the Lakers, the Rockets have dropped their fourth consecutive game on the road. They are currently 0-4 when away from the Toyota Center to begin the 2023-24 season.

The Rockets will close their three-game California road trip Monday night against the Golden State Warriors. They will then take on the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night inside the Toyota Center. Tip-off between the Rockets and Warriors is slated for 9:00 p.m. CDT inside the Chase Center.
