Rockets Fall To Warriors In First Game Post All-Star Break

In the first game out of the All-Star break, the Houston Rockets dropped their eighth consecutive game in a 116-101 loss to the Warriors Friday night.
In this story:

The Houston Rockets resumed their 2022-23 campaign Friday night in a 116-101 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Rockets also continued their five-game road trip, which led to Houston taking on the Warriors inside the Chase Center.

Even without the services of Stephen Curry, the Rockets had a tough time trying to slow down the Warriors' 3-point shooting. Houston gave up 26 triples, led by Klay Thompson.

Thompson accounted for 12 of Golden States' 3-point field goals. He finished the night with a game-high 42 points on 12-of-19 shooting. Thompson's performance marked the second time this season he connected on 10 or more triples against the Rockets.

He drilled 10 3-pointers on Nov. 20 in a win over the Rockets, where he recorded 41 points. In addition to Thompson, the Warriors received an additional boost from Donte DiVincenzo, who added five threes for 15 points.

The Rockets struggled to match the Warriors' 3-point shooting for the majority of the night. Houston connected on 11 3's, which limited their ability to match Golden State's offensive production.

The third quarter marked the only period the Rockets' offense came close to that of the Warriors. They outscored Golden State 28-20 and entered the fourth quarter down 86-77.

K.J. Martin led the Rockets on the night with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Jae'Sean Tate added 14 points. Josh Christopher came off the bench and added 13 points in the loss.

Warriors take 3-0 regular-season lead over the Rockets:

With the win, the Warriors have secured a winning record against the Rockets for the 2022-23 season. Golden State holds a 3-0 record and will have a chance to end their regular-season series in a sweep against Houston on March 20th.

TyTy Washignton Jr. makes first career start:

Coach Stephen Silas changed his starting lineup in the first game back from the All-Star break. He inserted TyTy Washington Jr. into the starting lineup in the absence of Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. He finished with 15 points (5-12 FG, 3-6 3PT), four assists and two steals.

Up Next:

The Rockets will close their five-game road trip Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers. After wrapping up their latest road trip, the Rockets will play four of their next five games at home.

Houston's first game inside the Toyota Center will take place on Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets. Tip-off is slated for 7 P.M. CT.
