HOUSTON — Coach Stephen Silas made the uncertainty surrounding his job status public ahead of the Houston Rockets 124-103 win over the Denver Nuggets Tuesday night.

Silas' unknown status stems from another year of the Rockets finishing at the bottom of the league. But Houston's horrid season will not jeopardize Rafael Stone's job as general manager.

As reported by the Houston Chronicle, Stone "is certain to lead the next steps" of the Rockets' rebuild despite rumors about his respective job security.

After three consecutive years in agony, Stone vows to construct a more suitable roster ahead of the 2023-24 campaign due to Houston's salary cap and draft capital. The Rockets will have roughly $60 million in cap space.

Stone began his career as general manager of the Rockets following the unexpected departure of Daryl Morey in October 2020. Stone's first move was to hire Silas as coach, who replaced Mike D'Antoni.

"We are going to have the most cap space this summer of any team in the NBA," Stone said. "I believe. We're going to have a lot of room to sign free agents to make trades into that space to really transform the team. We decided that we're really, really valuing that flexibility. And so, within that context, we think that we improved the team."
