Rockets' Jalen Green Excited About 'Super Dope' Fred VanVleet

Fred VanVleet signed with the Houston Rockets earlier this offseason, and nobody may be happier than Jalen Green.

The Houston Rockets are aiming to build one of the more exciting backcourts in the NBA with former All-Star and NBA champion Fred VanVleet and third-year pro Jalen Green, who is still just 21 years old.

Green is the player with the higher ceiling of the two, already averaging 22 points per game in his second NBA campaign.

The Rockets signed VanVleet to a three-year deal this offseason, hoping that some of his experience and skills will rub off and complement Green. Signing VanVleet has Green excited for what's to come.

“That’s super dope for the team, not just for me, but the whole team to have a veteran point guard, a winning point guard we can learn from & just set the tone for us,” Green said on ESPN.

VanVleet and Green are already building rapport as teammates. In a recent social media post published by performance coach Mike Guevara, VanVleet spent time in Los Angeles working out alongside Green.

VanVleet began his career in Toronto in 2016 after going undrafted. He became an All-Star in 2022. But his most significant role came in 2019 when he helped the Raptors win their first and only NBA championship.

The 6-0 guard has averaged 14.6 points on 40.2 percent shooting from the field, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals across 417 career games. VanVleet helped the Raptors sweep the Rockets during their two-game regular season series in 2022-23 by averaging 32.0 points on .458/.444/.889 shooting splits.

But now, VanVleet is on the Rockets' side, hoping to end a three-year playoff drought alongside Green.
