Rockets' Jalen Green Named Western Conference Player of the Week
HOUSTON -- The NBA announced Monday afternoon that Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green received the Western Conference Player of the Week honors for games played from March 11 to 17.
The Rockets went 3-0 during the previous week, where they have outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 points. The success of the Rockets came amid the absence of Alperen Şengün, while Green has taken the helm as the team's best player.
He averaged team-highs of 26.3 points and 8.7 rebounds for the week on 49.2 percent shooting from the field and 45.8 percent from behind the arc. Green's best game came during the Rockets' 135-119 victory over the Washington Wizards Thursday night, where he scored a season-high 37 points.
"That’s all him; he’s been rolling," Fred VanVleet said following the Rockets' victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. "I got to give him all the credit. He’s got that swag, that confidence, making shots at a high level.
"His threes are getting better. But he’s been playing good ball for a while, now, at both ends of the floor. He’s guarding. He’s taking pride in rebounding. The better he plays, the easier it is on everybody. He’s been playing his ass off."
Jalen Green Continues His Impressive Play in Rockets' Victory vs. Wizards
Green is the second player to take home Player of the Week honors this season for the Rockets. The first was Şengün during Week 11 of the regular season. Before Green and Şengün, the last Rocket to receive the honor was James Harden in November of 2019.
Green is the only Rocket to have appeared in all 67 games this season. He is averaging 18.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
