Rockets Announce Signings Of Jeff Green, Jock Landale, Fred VanVleet
HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets announced Friday morning the free agency signings of Jeff Green and Fred VanVleet. Houston's official announcement came a day after the Rockets officially acquired Jock Landale.
Green is coming off his 15th career season after averaging 17.2 minutes during the Denver Nuggets' championship run this past season. In 1,107 career games with 650 starts, Green has averaged 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28.5 minutes per game.
The signing of Green will mark his second stint with the Rockets. He joined the team during the 2019-20 season and helped Houston advance to the Conference Semifinals as part of the Orlando "bubble" experience.
Last season, VanVleet ranked 12th in the league in assists (7.2 apg) and 10th in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.54). Dating back to the 2019-20 season, VanVleet joins LaMelo Ball as the only two players to have averaged at least 19.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.50 steals.
VanVleet agreed to the max three-year, $130 million deal to join the Rockets during Day 1 of free agency.
Last season, Landale appeared in 69 games with four starts for the Phoenix Suns. He averaged 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 12.7 minutes per game.
Landale was one of four players last season who averaged at least 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while playing less than 15.0 minutes per game. Out of all the players who appeared in at least 40 games last season, Landale tied for 13th in offensive rebounds per 36 minutes played (4.4).
