HOUSTON — Houston Rockets coach Stephen Silas said Kevin Porter Jr. was "doubtful" for Thursday's game against the Indiana Pacers due to a thigh contusion. According to the Rockets' injury report, Porter has officially been listed as out.

Silas said Porter sustained the injury Tuesday night during the Rockets' 118-96 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Porter missed all of Wednesday's practice inside the Toyota Center before the team departed for Indiana.

"It's two unfortunate things," Silas said. "It's unfortunate that it happened. But it is unfortunate that we have been in the situation before."

The news of Porter's latest injury is a setback, given that Houston's starting point guard is still trying to work his way back from a 20-game absence due to a left toe contusion.

Porter has shown signs of rust since his return. Over the previous four games, he has averaged 12.3 points on 37.2 percent shooting from the field, 38.9 percent from behind the arc, 6.8 assists and 5.8 rebounds.

Porter's best game since his return came during the Rockets' 32-point victory over the San Antonio Spurs. He recorded 19 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3PT) and a season-high 13 assists on Sunday.

"We communicate all the time," Silas said. "We have to talk through these moments and make sure he has someone to bounce his feelings off of. Adversity is hard for everyone, not just for basketball players. My position is to be somebody he can talk to and help through these moments."
