Thunder Duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams Too Much for Rockets
The Houston Rockets were not able to take the second of two straight games against the Oklahoma City Thunder, as they lost 112-95. This loss means that the Rockets have dropped seven of their last ten games.
The Rockets took a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Thunder were then able to go on a 21-6 run to end the half, taking the lead 60-50 at the break. Once the Thunder got that lead, they never gave it back, and they took it to the end of the game.
Thunder stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams were the key in defeating the Rockets, as they combined for 55 points, almost half of the team's 112 total. Rookie Chet Holmgren was also key, chipping in yet another double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, the Rockets still had their good performances, namely, Alperen Sengun. He was the team's leading scorer with 23 points and also racked up 11 rebounds and six assists. He stuffed the stat sheet in just about every way, also tallying two steals and two blocks.
NBA Draft: Rockets to Address Shooting?
The Rockets have some tough opponents coming up and will need to be able to stop the stars of those teams. Gilgeous-Alexander showed what could happen if a star player goes unchecked in the loss, and the Rockets will be looking to avoid allowing a performance like that in their next game.
The Rockets will be looking to snap their two-game losing streak in their next game on Thursday against Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the Phoenix Suns. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT at the Footprint Center.
